Two arrested over Birmingham house fire after children, aged 3 & 5, are rescued from the house

Police have arrested two people following a house fire at an address in Birmingham on Saturday (May 27).

Officers were called by the fire service just after 4.30pm to an address on Wharf Road, Kings Norton to a house fire where two children were inside.

West Midlands Police said a three-year-old and five-year-old child were rescued from the house and taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

A 32-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. They are currently in custody an will be questioned by officers.

Forensics teams have been at the house to establish a cause for the fire.
