West Midlands Police has removed over 150 guns from Birmingham and the surrounding region, leading to a decrease in shootings and the imprisonment of numerous serious criminals.
The police force recovered 152 guns last year, up from 121 the previous year, and there were fewer firearms discharges as well. The release of the data comes on the first anniversary of the creation of the Major Crime Unit, which consists of proactive and reactive teams.

Hide AdThe teams have made significant arrests, charged individuals for attempted murder, conducted successful manhunts, and arrested predatory sexual offenders. Over £900,000 has been recovered through legal proceedings, with half being reinvested in community safety.
