Drug dealer Jelani Selassie has been jailed after West Midlands Police found three loaded guns in his bed in Birmingham

A Birmingham drug dealer has been jailed for eight and a half years for firearms and drugs offences.

Police executed a firearms warrant at Jelani Selassie’s home in Lees Street, Winson Green, on September 15 last year.

Officers searching the 34-year-old’s bedroom found three viable and loaded firearms secreted inside the lining of the bed. The search further revealed ammunition, around £15,000 worth of cocaine, over £3000 worth of cannabis and cash.

Selassie pleaded guilty to six offences on March 5. He was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday (Thursday, May 9). Here’s each offence and the jail terms:

  • Three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon (six years for each offence to run concurrently), 
  • Possession of ammunition (two years concurrent), 
  • Possession with intent to class B drugs (12 months concurrent) and Possession with intent to supply class A drugs (two and a half years consecutive).

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Operation Target sees us taking a defiant stand against a range of serious and organised crime offences – from drug dealing and burglary to cybercrime and fraud.
