A Birmingham man has been charged with firearms offences after a police chase ended in a collision.

A Nissan Micra was being pursued by officers after failing to stop when it clipped another vehicle on Edward Road, at the junction with Lincoln Street in Balsall Heath, just before 12.50pm on Friday, May 17.

Hakeem Ebrahim, aged 28, of no fixed address, was arrested and later charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of ammunition without a certificate.

He was due to appear before Birmingham magistrates tomorrow, Monday, May 20.

A teenage passenger, who was thrown from the Micra, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remained in a stable condition, West Midlands Police said. He was also under arrest on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

Police were still looking for a third man, who escaped. West Midlands Police stated:
