Coronavirus infection rates have risen steeply across the UK in the past week, official figures show.

There were 327,467 positive test results in the week to December 3, up 11% from the week before.

At a regional level, Northern Ireland has the highest infection rates in the UK, with 670 cases per 100,000 people, followed by South East England, with 659 cases per 100,000.

Scotland has the lowest rate, with 358 cases per 100,000.

At neighbourhood level, Covid-19 case rates have been published for the week to December 2.

Here are the neighbourhoods in Solihull which have seen the biggest rise in case rates in the past week.

1.Kingshurst

Kingshurst has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 240.1% from 149 cases per 100,000 people to 506.7

2. Chelmsley Wood West

Chelmsley Wood West has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 171.4% from 231.3 cases per 100,000 people to 627.8.

3. Castle Bromwich West

Castle Bromwich West has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 71.4% from 261.8 cases per 100,000 people to 448.8

4. Castle Bromwich East

Castle Bromwich East has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 66.6% from 303.4 cases per 100,000 people to 505.6.

5. Dickens Heath, Cheswick Green & Hockley Heath

Dickens Heath, Cheswick Green & Hockley Heath has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 54.3%, from 309.5 cases per 100,000 people to 477.6.
