Covid-19 rates in Solihull neighbourhoods: where cases are rising and falling the fastest

Coronavirus case numbers remain stable but high across the UK, official figures show.

There were 693,096 cases in the week ending January 27, a 0.8% fall on the number seen the week before.

It is double the number of cases the UK saw in the last week of November, before the Omicron wave.

In Solihull, there has been a slight increase in cases.

There were 1123.3 cases per 100,000 people recorded in the week to 20 January, compared with 1144.4 in the week to January 27.

At neighbourhood level, Covid-19 case rates have been published for the week to January 27.

Here are the neighbourhoods in Birmingham with the biggest rise in case rates in the past week - and those seeing the biggest fall in the number of cases.

Biggest rise

1. Balsall Common

Balsall Common has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 36.1% from 1428.2 cases per 100,000 people to 1944.3.

2. Blossomfield

Blossomfield has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 25.7% from 1123.1 cases per 100,000 people to 1412.2.

3. Kingshurst

Kingshurst has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 13.6% from 983.6 cases per 100,000 people to 1117.7.

4. Knowle

Knowle has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 13.0% from 1260 cases per 100,000 people to 1423.9.

5. Dickens Heath, Cheswick Green & Hockley Heath

Dickens Heath, Cheswick Green & Hockley Heath has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 11.7% from 1211.6 case per 100,000 people to 1353.1.

Biggest fall

Here are the neighbourhoods in Solihull with the biggest drop in case rates in the past week.

1. Castle Bromwich West

Castle Bromwich West has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 45.3% from 1402.7 cases per 100,000 people to 766.8.

2. Lyndon North

Lyndon North has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 36.2% from 1147.9 cases per 100,000 people to 732.0.

3. Smith's Wood North

Smith's Wood North has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 32.0% from 1327.4 cases per 100,000 people to 902.0.

4. Smith's Wood South

Smith's Wood South has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 30.4% from 1380.3 cases per 100,000 people to 960.2.

5.Monkspath North

Monkspath North has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 29.2% from 1082.6 cases per 100,000 people to 766.2.
