Coronavirus case numbers remain stable but high across the UK, official figures show.

There were 693,096 cases in the week ending January 27, a 0.8% fall on the number seen the week before.

It is double the number of cases the UK saw in the last week of November, before the Omicron wave.

In Birmingham, there has been a slight decrease in cases.

There were 1015.1 cases per 100,000 people the city in the week to 20 January, compared with 956.6 cases in the week up to January 27.

At neighbourhood level, Covid-19 case rates have been published for the week to January 27.

Here are the neighbourhoods in Birmingham with the biggest rise in case rates in the past week - and those seeing the biggest fall in the number of cases.

Four Oaks has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 69.0% from 830.2 cases per 100,000 people to 1402.8.

2. Wylde Green

Wylde Green has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 55.2% from 1037.9 cases per 100,000 people to 1610.6.

3. Sutton Coldfield South & Central

Sutton Coldfield South & Central has seen positive Covid case rates rise by 26.1% from 1098.4 cases per 100,000 people to 1385.4.

4. Yardley Wood East

Yardley Wood East has seen positive Covid case rates rise by 25.0% from 1136.8 cases per 100,000 people to 1421.0.

5. Brandwood East

Here are the neighbourhoods in Birmingham with the biggest drop in case rates in the past week.

1. Nechells

Nechells has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 64. %from 1342.9 cases per 100,000 people to 481.7.

2. Balsall Heath East

Balsall Heath East has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 57.9% from 1624.1 cases per 100,000 people to 683.8.

3. Sparkbrook South

5. North Central & Dartmouth Circus

North Central & Dartmouth Circus has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 50.0% from 681.2 cases per 100,000 people to 340.6.
