The decision to ramp up the booster programme comes amid fears of a rise in Covid cases, particularly those with the Omicron variant.

As part of the measures under 30s are now eligible to get their Covid-19 booster vaccine.
From today, Wednesday 15 December, people aged 18 and over in Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull can book their Covid-19 booster jab. The government said that extra centres are being set up to manage increased demand, and people are being encouraged to volunteer to help deliver the programme.
To be eligible for a booster jab, people must have had their second dose at least three months ago.
