Counter Terrorism detectives arrest two men in the West Midlands

Detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands CTP arrested two men yesterday (Wednesday, July 12) on suspicion of terrorism.

The men – aged 18 and 22 and from Birmingham and West Bromwich respectively – were detained in connection with disseminating terrorism material and  fundraising for terrorism. They remain in custody today (Thursday, July 13).

Searches of five premises were carried out as part of the pre-planned arrests. West Midlands Police has not released any further information about this incident at the current time. In a separate incident two brother from Birmingham pleaded guilty to a terrorism offence.

Muhammad Abdul Haleem Heyder Khan (21) and Muhammad Hamzah Heyder Khan (18) admitted engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. The pair, from Ward End, were arrested on 2 November. They are due to be sentenced in September.
