An actor known for his role in the longtime soap opera Coronation Street was recently spotted in a Birmingham city centre restaurant. This is the second celeb to be seen in the city in the recent weeks after Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas hung out at several Digbeth venues as Turner is shooting for an ITV drama.

The latest celeb to be seen was a longtime Coronation Street cast member who has played the role of Gary Windass in the ITV soap opera since 2008. Michael ‘Mikey’ North and his wife, Rachel Isherwood, also an actor, visited one of Birmingham’s highest rated Indian street food restaurants - Indian Cafe Racer restaurant housed in The Duke of Wellington Hotel & Bar.

The restaurant is already a celebrity spot and have had famous diners like Peaky Blinders actor Stephen Graham, Designation Survivor and 24 star Kiefer Sutherland popularly known as Tom Kirkman and Jack Bauer, American rock band Blackberry Smoke, as well as musicians Macklemore and Eric Nally. The restaurant has also hosted several global athletes and sports teams as well.

Indian Cafe Racer has a 4.9 rating from 170 Google reviews and usually flies under the radar compared to Asha’s - which has attracted famous celebrities like Tom Cruise, Pink and Ed Sheeran.

The restaurant’s team shared in their latest Instagram post: “Yesterday was an unforgettable day here at Indian Cafe Racer. We had the honor of hosting the fabulous actor Michael North, best known for his stellar role in Coronation Street.

“Our team was starstruck as Mr. North graced our humble establishment with his presence. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have him indulge in some of our most beloved dishes!”

The couple tasted a variety of dishes from the Indian Cafe Racer menu: Pani Puri, Gobi Manchurian, Chilli Paneer, Paneer Makhni, Rajasthani Lamb and plain Naan.
