The sell-out show, which aired on ITV was a great success, and combined music with short films to recognise the relief efforts amid the plight of people affected by the conflict following Russia’s invasion. The concert saw performances from huge music figures including Ed Sheeran, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Becky Hill, Manic Street Preachers, Snow Patrol and Camila Cabello.

Snow Patrol set the tone with a powerful rendition of their 2003 hit Run and Nile Rogers and Chic closed the event aptly showing the heartfelt support for those suffering from war with their anthem We Are Family.

Ukranian singer Jamala, winner of the Eurovision Song contest in 2016, also performed to the 8,000 Concert for Ukraine audience inside the arena. She is among those who have had to flee their homes following the start of the war. Around £13.4 million ($17.6 million) was raised during the event.

What’s been said about the nomination?

Guy Dunstan, NEC Group’s Managing Director of Ticketing and Arenas, said: “We’re delighted to hear Concert for Ukraine has been nominated for two BAFTA Awards. The way all our teams from across the live events and entertainment industries came together to create such a spectacular show in just a few weeks was incredible to see.

“As a live events business, we knew we had the power to unite millions of people and make a difference.
