An inquest has found that Trevor Smith, shot dead by police in 2019, was lawfully killed and that the armed officer fired in self-defence.

Body-cam footage showed armed police attempted to verbally engage with Mr Smith prior to the shooting, and a handgun - later found to be an imitation firearm - was recovered at the scene.
