Cody Fisher: football clubs and school pay tribute to sports coach killed in nightclub stabbing

Tributes are pouring in for Cody Fisher, the 23-year-old footballer who was killed after being stabbed at the Crane nightclub in Digbeth on Boxing day.
Two men have now been arrested on suspicion of his murder.
A 22-year-old was held at an address in Birmingham city centre just after midnight, while a second man aged 21 was arrested in London.

Hide AdCody was a semi-professional footballer and sports coach who had also played for Bromsgrove Sporting and Stratford Town. He was also a sports coach at Woodrow First School and nursery.
Tributes to Cody
Birmingham City paid their respects on social media. A message from the club on Twitter, read: “The thoughts of everyone at Blues are with Cody Fisher’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time. Rest in peace, Cody.”
Bromsgrove Sporting released a statement, saying: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Glassboys player Cody Fisher in such tragic circumstances yesterday.
“The Club would like to send our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

Hide Ad“Cody was brought in by then manager Ian Long early in the 2019/20 season and he made 9 appearances (7 + 2 sub appearances) during his six months with the Club, including starting our Emirates FA Cup 1st Round tie at home to Eastleigh that ended in a 2 - 2 draw.
“Cody also played for Bromsgrove Sporting and Stratford Town, having been with Birmingham City as a youngster.
“Sadly, this is our second experience of losing a young former player in these dreadful circumstances. RIP Cody.”
Woodrow First School and Nursery tweeted: “Everyone is devastated to hear of the tragic and needless death of this friendly and talented young man. Many of the children know Cody as their sports coach and love and admire him. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. May he rest in peace.”
