Beautiful Christmas Market to return to Birmingham’s Cathedral Square for 2023 with the Pigeon in the Park pub

Christmas in Cathedral Square is returning for 2023 with special guests and a Christmas tree lights switch on

Christmas is coming to Cathedral Square in Birmingham city centre - also known as Pigeon Park.

The beautiful Christmas in Cathedral Square 2023 event is a firm favourite for Brummies - alongside the German Christmas Market in Victoria Square - and features a host of family fun activities along with entertainment from local artists from Albert’s Schloss, independent gift shops and food.

Festivities in Cathedral Square will begin two weeks later than the German Market - also known as the Frankfurt Christmas Market - which is opening on Wednesday, November 2.

When will Christmas in Cathedral Square 2023 begin?

The Pigeon Park celebrations will begin with Christmas tree lights switch on with free entertainment from special guests on Wednesday, November 15. The festivities will continue until Sunday, December 17.

The market will open Monday to Wednesday from 11am to 8pm, Thursday to Saturday from 11am to 9pm, and Sunday from 12.30pm to 8pm.

What to expect at Christmas in Cathedral Square 2023

Delivered in partnership by Colmore BID, Birmingham City Council, Danter Attractions Ltd and Birmingham Cathedral visitors to Christmas in Cathedral Square can expect music from local artists from Albert’s Schloss, the Snowdog Art Trail, and traditional crafts, ornaments, and gifts from an array of independent West Midland businesses. Stallholders include Summer & Silver, Miss Macaroon, and students from Aston University.

There will also be a selection of pop-up food and drinks vendors, as well as the return of the much-loved Pigeon in the Park pub. Food and drinks vendors include Gaucho, Chatty Patty and Vagabond.

Michele Wilby, CEO of Colmore BIDcommented, “When we created Christmas in Cathedral Square, we knew we had made something special. It is different from other Christmas events. Not only does it have all the usual Christmas cheer, but it also has the charm of taking place in the heart of the Colmore Business District.

“The feedback we’ve received over the last two years has been fantastic, so we’re excited to bring the event back for a third year with a few new elements, too. It seems that people are already excited for Christmas in Cathedral Square, as well as Christmas in the Colmore Business District as a whole.”
