Chris Rea’s 1950 Land Rover to be auctioned in Birmingham - here’s when and where

Fancy driving the Road To Hell in Chris Rea’s Land Rover?

The musician’s off-roader is going under the hammer in an upcoming car sale. The 72-year-old, who had a hit with Driving Home for Christmas, is parting with his 1950 Series I model in a Birmingham auction.

Classic Car Auctions have set a guide price of £10,000 - £12,000 for the motor, which they say has been lightly used latterly and kept in dry storage. The vehicle was previously in long term ownership of 35 years, from 1986 until December 2021 before being acquired by Rea.

Believed to have been rebuilt sometime in the 1970s, the Land Rover is fitted with a Rover 2000 SC (P6) engine, which Classic Car say is “smooth running and suited to the car”.

A new Exmoor trim canvas tilt roof was fitted three years ago, and a replacement tailgate was fitted recently.

When is the auction?

The sale will be at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show 25th - 26th March at the NEC, Birmingham.
