Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death by a gang in Castle Bromwich following his car being rammed off a road

West Midlands Police were called to Chester Road in Castle Bromwich just before 8.15pm yesterday (18th April). It is believed that a man in his 50s had been travelling in a car which was rammed by another vehicle. He was then attacked by a number of people who then fled from the scene.

He was found with serious injuries and nothing could be done to save him. Police are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish what happened and why and to identify those responsible.

Photographs show how a black Ford Fiesta was let damaged after crashing into railings near a pedestrian crossing. A red Ford Focus, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a Jeep can also be seen abandoned at the scene, which remained sealed off by police this morning (Wed).

DCI Dave Sanders said: “We’re supporting the man’s family during this deeply distressing time. I’d like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who was in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage to please get in touch. It could be vital to our investigation.”

National Express West Midlands said its X12 service is diverting in both directions via Birmingham Road and Aukland Drive. The bus service made the announcement earlier today (April 19).

There was no service on Chester Road or Windward Way. National Express West Midlands said: “Apologies for any disruption to your journey.” You can contact the police via Live Chat on West Midlands Police website, or by calling 101, and quote log 4840 of 18 April.
