Castle Bromwich hit and run fatality

The woman who was seriously injured in a hit and run collision in Castle Bromwich over the weekend has sadly died. Catherine Francis was struck by a car on Bradford Road at around 1:25 on Saturday. A Toyato Aygo was found abandoned in the Kingshurst area which is believed to be involved.

Police and Crime Commissioner criticised over stop and search effectiveness

The region’s Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster has met criticism after questioning the effectiveness of stop and search. Nicola Richards, MP for West Bromwich East, raised the issue in a Westminster Hall debate claiming that the approach saves lives by taking weapons off the streets quickly.

Ex-Sandwell Council leader stepping down as councillor

Rajbir Singh, who stood down as leader of Sandwell council earlier this week has now confirmed he will also be stepping down as councillor in Bristnall. This unusual move to quit during his term means that the seat is likely to remain vacant until Mays elections.
