Car crushed as Storm Franklin hits Birmingham among other incidents

Firefighters have responded to a number of incidents in the West Midlands related to Storm Franklin over the last 24 hours.

Hide AdA yellow weather warning is currently in place in Birmingham today (21 February) with the storm continuing to bring high winds and rain across the city.
The West Midlands Fire Service have been dealing with a number of weather-related incidents as the storm continues to cause havoc across the region.
Last night (20 February), firefighters were called after a tree fell on a car near Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield.

Hide AdThe two occupants managed to get themselves out of the car (pictured above) before the fire service arrived.
The fire service said they had precautionary checks at the scene, but were not believed to need further medical assistance.
In Sandwell, firefighters also removed branches from the roof of the Bell and Bear Inn pub in Rowley Regis after a large tree fell.

Large tree fallen. Damage to roof of one house. Driveways to three blocked.
Victory Avenue, Moxley, Wednesbury
Firefighters secured part of conservatory roof that had come adrift.
Market Street, Kingswinford
Firefighters removed loose signage.
Bell and Bear Inn, Gorsty Hill Road, Rowley Regis

Hide AdOur Technical Rescue Unit removed branches from the pub roof after a large tree fell.
Stratford Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham
Firefighters made safe some loose signage.
Mehdi Road, Oldbury
Firefighters removed fence panels that had blown on to vehicles.
Birmingham New Road, Wolverhampton
Firefighters worked with tree surgeon to clear road after a large tree fell across it.
Chetwynd Road, Blakenhall, Wolverhampton

Hide AdWall collapsed on to a house, damaging windows and brickwork. We shored up and boarded up the property. Occupier was making arrangements to have unstable tree assessed.
Osborne Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham
Chimney brickwork dislodged and fell. Homes evacuated.
Streetly Lane, Streetly, Sutton Coldfield
Two occupants got themselves out of a car on to which a tree had fallen. They had precautionary checks at the scene, but were not believed to need further medical assistance. Road closed until tree removed.
Hailstone Close, Rowley Regis
Loft conversion roof blown into street.
