A 22-year-old man has been convicted of brutally murdering his former friend.
Tarik Al-Mitheab has been found guilty of murdering Mahmoud Alabdullah last year.

Final moments caught on CCTV
The court heard how he had driven to Cherrywood Road to visit a friend. As he travelled along Pikewater Road, he passed Al-Mitheab who was a rear seat passenger of a white BMW.
After spotting his former friend, CCTV showed that the white BMW followed Mr Alabdullah into Cherrywood Road.
Al-Mitheab got out and confronted Mr Alabdullah as he sat in his vehicle. As the victim opened his car door, the 22-year-old launched towards him, stabbing him.

Hide AdMr Alabdullah got out, but Al-Mitheab continued his attack in the street. He then callously returned to the waiting car which drove away, leaving the victim seriously injured.

Face of a killer
Efforts to save Alabdullah's life failed, and he tragically died from his wounds at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. After murdering his former friend, Al-Mitheab attempted to cover his tracks, washing his clothes and later surrendering to police.
During a four-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, he maintained his innocence, claiming he had wrested the knife from the victim.

Hide AdHowever, the jury found him guilty, and he awaits sentencing set for 7 June 2024.
Authorities praised the investigative team for their relentless pursuit of justice, bringing some solace to Alabdullah's grieving family.
