Police hunt for burglary suspects after a man aged in 80s was robbed in his Birmingham home

West Midlands Police were called to an elderly man’s home in Kings Norton in the early hours of today (Saturday, February 11)

Police have arrested a woman and continue to search for others after an elderly man was robbed in his own home in Birmingham.

The victim, aged in his 80s, suffered a knife wound to his hand as he tried to protect himself from the intruders. Officers were called to his home on Rednal Road, Kings Norton, shortly after midnight today (Saturday, February 11).The man was taken to hospital for treatment and discharged.

Using CCTV officers were quickly able to identify a suspect, and a woman in her 20s was arrested shortly before 2am. She remains in custody while investigations continue.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We know there were others involved and we urge anyone with information to contact us via Live Chat on our website quoting log 43 of 11/2. Burglary is a priority for us and we know how distressing it can be, especially if you live alone.”
