It’s not the only fine dining restaurant to launch a into the fast food scene - Michelin starred Brad Carter of Carter’s in Moseley is opening a kebab shop at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath.

Over in Harborne, locals will be able to visit the Bun & Barrel from Friday, January 20. It is the brainchild of Harborne Kitchen’s Jamie Desogus and his long term pal Rob Hennebry who has managed restaurants all over the world from Beijing to Dublin to London. The pair met as bandmates at the age of 21 with Jamie on the drums and Rob playing bass.

In addition to the house burger other highlights from the menu include a Surf & Turf burger, showcasing confit & seared pork belly, and scallop, and a Crab Bun with soft shell tempura, and mango and chilli salsa.

Jamie and Rob have worked their mutual love for music into The Bun & Barrel concept, interior design elements celebrate musical heritage whilst every service will operate against a rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack. The restaurant will also be home to a permanent pool table.

Jamie Desogus, co-founder of The Bun & Barrel, said, “We can’t wait to bring The Bun & Barrel to Harborne. It’s a super casual concept, we want people to really kick back and relax; grab a burger and a beer or cocktail, and maybe a game of pool.

“We’ll be using the very best ingredients, and with my pastry team at Harborne Kitchen making the demi brioche buns from scratch, I’m pretty confident we’ll be serving the best burgers on the block."
