Eat Vietnam’s team shared a photo saying: “It was a quiet lunch service yesterday. I respectfully didn’t disrupt him while he was eating with his lovely family, but couldn’t help to declare that I’m a fan as they were settling up. Told him that I still play Regiment out whenever I have a chance. A record that’s always been in my box, if I’m taking vinyl out to play. He responded yeah that’s 42 years old. I was thinking how d’you even remember that so quickly when you have made so many great records. Amazing! Mr Eno.”
Regiment is a 1981 single by Brian Eno and Scottish-American singer-songwriter David Byrne. He left Roxy Music in 1973 but was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2019. A self-described “non-musician” has been called “one of popular music’s most important and influential figures” by Wired magazine. He also developed a musical app alongside composer and programmer Peter Chilvers, to take his work in generative music forward.
