Boy, 11, suffers serious head injury after being hit by van in Birmingham

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact us after an 11-year-old boy was left with serious injuries following a collision involving a van which failed to stop.

Hide AdThe boy was struck by a silver Vauxhall Vivaro van moments after he got off a bus near to the Clock Garage on Coleshill Road, Hodge Hill, last Saturday (August 31), shortly before 6.40pm.
The boy was left with a serious head injury and was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery. He currently remains in hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the van failed to stop. Police seized the vehicle but the force is now appealing for information to find the driver.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The boy suffered a significant head injury and we need to talk to the driver.
“I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have any information including dashcam footage to please get in touch with us. A young boy was seriously injured and I would like to make a direct appeal to the driver to do the right thing and make contact with us.
