Body found in undergrowth next to canal in Birmingham

West Midlands Police are appealing for information following the incident at the Tame Valle Canal in Perry Barr

Police are investigating after a body was found next to a canal in Perry Barr on Thursday (11 August).

The body was located in undergrowth next to the Tame Valley canal. Police say the body may have been there ‘for some time’ and they are working to identify the person.

A statement from West Midlands Police, said: “We’re investigating after a body was found in undergrowth near a canal off Aldridge Road, Birmingham at just before 2pm yesterday (Thursday 11 August).

“We understand the body may have been there for some time and we’re working hard to carry out identification so we can inform their family.A post mortem examination will establish the precise cause of death which is being treated as unexplained at this time.
