Inside the huge B&M discount store at The Fort shopping park in Birmingham

The enormous B&M discount store opened at The Fort shopping park in Birmingham on Saturday (October 14)

Discount retailer B&M has taken possession of four former stores at The Fort in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham.

The huge shopping emporium spans 21,479sqft - where Poundworld, Clarks, Debenhams and New Look used to be - and it opened its doors to the public for the first time on Saturday (October 14).

The launch of the new store has created more than 60 jobs for local people. B&M promises that customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price - including a range of food, drink and pet food.

They say that there is also a fantastic selection of quality health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts and plenty more to explore.

B&M colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community.

And they chose the team from The British Heart Foundation to take centre stage and officially unveil the new B&M store. The charity will receive funds from B&M at The Fort - and across the country. It was presented with £250 vouchers at the launch.

The store manager, said: “It was really exciting to welcome customers through the doors; the feedback so far has been fantastic. A big thank you to the team at The British Heart Foundation who helped us open the store, we hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do.”
