Solihull road closures: almost two dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Solihull's motorists will have 21 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 12 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M40, from 9pm February 17 to 6am April 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 3a to junction 7, hard shoulder and lane closures for access to emergency refuge bays to replace signage.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm May 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A446, from 9.30am March 1 to 3.30pm May 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 southbound, from M6, junction 4 island to biddles loop, lane closures for tree planting works in relation to HS2.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 to 6am June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm June 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

• M42, from 8pm July 24 2021 to 5am July 29 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to 7, lane closures for bridge survey works.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am August 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M42, from 9am April 25 to 6pm April 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42, junction 6 northbound, Lane closure leading to dedicated slip road closure for works on behalf of major Scheme.

• M42, from 10pm April 25 to 6am April 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 5 to junction 7, lane closures with hard shoulder running for technology repairs.

• M42, from 8pm April 26 to 6am April 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Lane closure for communications- CCTV renewal.

• M42, from 10pm April 26 to 6am April 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 5 to junction 7, lane closures for technology repairs.

• M42, from 10pm April 27 to 6am April 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6, lane closures on carriageway with lane closure on slip road for technology repairs.

• M6, from 9.30am to 3pm on April 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, Packington Estate to Church/Bentley Lane, Off network on Packington Lane, two-way temporary traffic lights, Principle inspection of bridge.

• A45, from midday, April 30 to 5.30am May 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 westbound, Stonebridge to M42, junction 6, Lane closure leading to off network carriageway closure for construction of new carriageway.

• M42, from 9am May 2 to 6pm May 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42, junction 6 northbound, Lane closure leading to dedicated slip road closure for works on behalf of major Scheme.

• M42, from 9pm May 9 to 6am May 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junctions four to junction 6, lane closures for barrier repair works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
