Located at Two Chamberlain Square opposite Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery - Vinoteca has certainly picked a fabulous spot to entertain the city’s wine lovers.

The area is aptly named Paradise - a name dating back to medieval times when it boasted quality land, but became a bit of a concrete jungle full of brutalist buildings until recent times when it was redeveloped.

These days Paradise is an impressive mix of the best of vintage Victorian architecture alongside gleaming contemporary construction reflecting the best of 21st century Birmingham.

And what better way to celebrate this triumph than with a glass of wine in the city’s biggest wine bar!

What is it really like inside Vinoteca?

Vinoteca isn’t just a wine bar, it is also a wine shop - with over 200 bottles to choose from - and it’s got a great menu with snacks and meals to perfectly pair with your tipple of choice.

There’s a great outdoor terrace area looking out onto the Chamberlain Memorial and museum for those dry, sunny days - when they pop up!

The huge downstairs area is relaxed and spacious with the shop as you enter the front entrance and three separate bar areas. Tables are at a comfortable distance from one another to offer both intimacy and atmosphere.

There’s a raised bar area offering an extra dimension to the venue with huge windows for that all important Paradise view!

But what about the wine?

As you might expect, there’s a huge selection of wines to choose from around the world - including Italy, France, Romania, Greece, Slovenia, Argentina, England, and more.

But what you might not know is that you can try up to three at once! That’s because Vinoteca offers an innovative wine paddle - with a carefully selected trio of wines for guests to sample a selection.

We tried the Acid Hound Wine Paddle - celebrating that key wine ingredient with a Clare Valley Riesling from Australia, IGP Val de Loire Sauvignon ‘The Holy Snail’ from France and Getaroalp Txakolina from Spain.

And we also got to sample the Pink Punk Wine Paddle - with a tasty trio of traditional summer roses featuring Crystal Croatina from Italy, Har Rose Dragon Clan Dealu Mare from Romania and Riverland Nero Gluck & Bray from Australia.

We can certainly recommend this as a great way to try out as many wonderful wines as possible.

Vinoteca’s menu is described as modern British. There’s bar snacks and small plates, sharing plates and mains. Vegan options are available.
