The baton has been making its way through the West Midlands with the Games about to begin this week

After travelling around the world, the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay has finally arrived in the West Midlands as it ventured through Sandwell on Monday (25 July).

Thousands of people around the world have welcomed The Queen’s Baton Relay on its way through countries including Pakistan, The Bahamas, New Zealand and Sierra Leone. The baton arrived in the region at the weekend and carried around Wolverhampton, Dudley and Walsall, before beginning it’s journey Sandwell

Many residents lined the streets of the borough to catch a glimpse of the baton as it made its way through Smethwick, Wednesbury, Oldbury, Tipton, Cradley Heath, Rowley Regis and West Bromwich.

Numerous road closures were in place to allow the batonbearers to safely pass the baton through the towns, with community events taking place as well.
