Solihull Moors: Vanarama release statement surrounding ticket price outrage for National League play-off final

Vanarama have responded to the outrage among fans surrounding the National League play-off final ticket prices with a short statement this morning.

Prices were released yesterday (Monday 30th May) for the final which will be played at West Ham United’s London Stadium on Sunday 5th June with the cheapest for an adult costing £43.99.

It sparked anger not only between fans of Solihull and Grimsby supporters but the whole football community with a number of high profile figures taking to social media to express their distaste of the whole situation.

Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling tweeted: “40 quid plus for National League play off final tickets- 20 for kids.

“Don’t we want people to support their local teams? They already have to pay for travel from Solihull and Grimsby to East London.

“These fans are the bedrock of football and yet treated shamefully.”

BirminghamWorld contacted Vanarama for comment yesterday and whilst we have received no direct response, they did tweet out a very short statement responding to matters this morning.

It reads:

“We completely understand the fans’ frustration with ticket pricing for the National League Promotion Final. We are in contact with both clubs to see how we can help.”

Whilst it’s far from ground-breaking, it is at least an acknowledgement of the situation with a further update expected shortly.

Not wanting to wait around for a price reduction that may or may not come, Grimsby Town’s ‘Mariners Trust’ have taken matters into their own hands, raising over £10,000 so far to help the families of those that cannot otherwise afford to attend.
