The Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend is the next bank holiday in the UK, and it is a brand new weekend which sees us get not one, but two extra days off.

The two bank holidays also means with it comes different opening times for supermarkets in the city.

Like with the Easter weekend in April,  this bank holiday weekend will be two extra days off.

Supermarkets in Birmingham will have different opening times on both 2 and 3 June, which are a Thursday and Friday.

Here are the opening times for the major supermarkets in Birmingham across the upcoming bank holiday weekend.

The double bank holiday weekend in 2022 is in aid of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

The extra day has been combined with the May bank holiday to create the four day weekend which kicks off on Thursday, 2 June.

Aldi

  • Thursday, 2 June: 8am - 8pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 8am-8pm

Aldi stores are expected to be open normal bank holiday hours, which sees shops close two hours earlier than normal.

Tesco

  • Thursday, 2 June: 6am - 8pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 6am-8pm

Tesco stores will operate normal bank holiday opening hours on both of the Jubilee Bank Holidays.

Express stores in Birmingham are expected to be open as normal.

The superstore in Witton is one of the more central superstores, and the opening hours are listed below.

  • Thursday, 2 June: 6am - 8pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 6am-8pm

Lidl

  • Thursday, 2 June: 8am - 8pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 8am-8pm

Lidl shops in Birmingham will be open as usual on 4 and 5 June, but will operate slightly shorter hours on the two bank holidays.

Lidl have encouraged people to check times of their local stores as some will differ.

The Erdington store is one of the closest to Birmingham city centre, the opening times of this store are listed below.

  • Thursday, 2 June: 8am - 8pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 8am-8pm

Asda

  • Thursday, 2 June: 7am - 10pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 7am-10pm

Asda store opening hours will be relatively unaffected by the Jubilee Bank Holiday May bank holiday, and many will be open as normal.

Below are the holiday opening times for the Bordesley Green Asda.

  • Thursday, 2 June: 7am - 10pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 7am-10pm
  • Saturday, 4 June: 7am-10pm

Morrisons

  • Thursday, 2 June: 7am - 8pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 7am-8pm

Morrisons stores will have regular bank holiday opening hours on 2 and 3 June, which is between 7am and 8pm.

They will return to normal Saturday opening hours on Saturday, 4 June.

Slightly shorter bank holiday times are in place for the two Jubilee bank holidays.

Sainsbury’s

  • Thursday, 2 June: 7am - 8pm
  • Friday, 3 June: 7am-8pm

Sainsbury’s stores will be open as normal on Saturday and Sunday and, like some of their competitors, will close slightly earlier than normal on the two bank holidays.

Some Sainsbury’s Local stores will remain open normal hours.

Opening times for Co-ops will vary depending on location, and this applies to stores located in Birmingham.
