Stechford: second man arrested following fatal motorcycle crash

Police are still appealing for information following the tragic incident

A second man has been arrested following a fatal crash in Stechford on Tuesday (22 March) continues.

A man in his 20s suffered serious head injuries during the collision involving a motorcycle and a car on Flaxley Road at around 10pm and the man died later in hospital.

It was initially believed the man was riding a scooter, but West Midlands Police have said the crash involved a motorcycle and a car.

A 23-year-old man was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving under the influence and failing to stop, after he attended a police station on Wednesday evening.

Following questioning he has been released under investigation as officers continue with enquiries to establish the exact circumstances of the collision.

A man in his 30s, arrested on Tuesday, on suspicion of causing serious injury has also been released pending further investigations.

What have West Midlands Police said?

Inspector Steve Radford of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing as we work to find out exactly what happened.

“A forensic examination of the scene has been carried out and CCTV footage from around the area is being reviewed.

“We have also spoken with a number of witnesses but we’d ask anyone who was in the area at the time, who’s not yet spoken to us, to get in contact.

“We’d also ask drivers who have dashcam of the incident, or who were in the area around the time of the collision, to get in touch.
