A fire has broken out in a building in Stratford Road, Hockley Heath this afternoon (August 2).

West Midlands Fire Service say the blaze has broke out in a business on the road, close to the junction with School Road in the Arden village.

Six fire crews including around 30 firefighters have been called to the address the deal with the fire, which can be seen in the photo below. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident. The blaze is located in a property next to a dental surgery.

The fire service says the blaze has affected around half of a single-storey, brick-built detached building. No casualties have been reported.

A section of the road close to the incident has been closed in both directions.

A statement from West Midlands Fire Service, read: “Four fire engines, two 4x4 Brigade Response Vehicles and a hydraulic aerial platform are at the scene. They are crewed by around 30 firefighters from Solihull, Billesley, Hay Mills, Highgate and Ward End fire stations.

“A plan is being formulated with West Midlands Police to re-open the road when it is safe to do so.”

“We’re asking drivers to avoid this area due to traffic build-up. Part of the road has been closed.”
