His wife of 40 years, Sharon, who has been by his side from the beginning of his career, ensured that he would be safe on stage as he is battling Parkinson’s disease - which can make even walking difficult.

Not only is he famous for his iconic music but also for the reality TV show The Osbournes, where his family, including his children - Jack and Kelly, were the star cast. The American TV show ran for four seasons.

But, there is so much more to him. Here is everything to know about the legend.

Who is Ozzy Osbourne?

Ozzy was raised in a working-class family in Aston, Birmingham. He dropped out of school at only 15 and started working several low-paying jobs, according to Brittanica.

He started performing with local rock groups and eventually formed his own, Earth. The name of the band was later changed to Black Sabbath.

In 1970, after the launch of their eponymously named album, the band became famous globally. Between then and 1978, the band was becoming more famous but Ozzy was sinking deeper into his addictions.

He left Black Sabbath in 1978 and it took him some time to find his footing again. He eventually launched a solo career thanks to Sharon. The first solo album became a multi-platinum success and has not looked back since.

The singer and his first wife, Thelma, parted ways in 1982 and he had started dating Sharon, his manager, by then. They married soon after. Sharon and Ozzy met when her father, Don Arden, was the manager of Black Sabbath.

She used to work with her father and already knew about the music industry. So, Ozzy was in good hands when Sharon took over as his manager and also helped him get out of his funk after leaving Black Sabbath.

Children

The couple have three children - Aimee, 39, Kelly, 38, and Jack, 37.

Ozzy also has three kids from his previous marriage. He adopted his first wife, Thelma Riley’s son, Elliott, 56. And, has two biological children, Jessica, 50, and Louis, 47,  with Thelma as well.
