The hit television show Peaky Blinders, based on a real life Birmingham gang in post-World War One, has generated a strong interest in the city on a global stage.

With much of the action centred around Small Heath, Digbeth and Nechells and created by Steven Knight who grew up in the area it’s shone a light on the city like never before.

Naveed says: “I feel like it’s amazing in terms of putting Birmingham on the map not just in the UK, but around the world. I was in Rome last year, I met a few people and I told them I’m from Birmingham in England and straight away they were like ‘oh, Peaky Blinders!’ right?

“So it’s crazy how because of Peaky Blinders mentioning Birmingham, it actually putting Birmingham on the map!”

Anthony says: “I personally think that Peaky Blinders has had a positive effect on the city. It’s brought in - I could imagine - a lot of tourism.

“People want to visit the scenes, people want to see the actual clips and that scene on the telly for themselves because they’ve obviously fell in love with the story and how it has been acted.

“So yeah, absolutely. Like I say positive impact.”
