From themed gin bars, to men asking for a ‘Peaky Blinders’ trim at the barbers, it’s clear that the show has left its mark.

The series returned in February after a gap of almost three years, following delays caused by the pandemic and the untimely death of one of the show’s main cast, Helen McCrory, who played Aunt Polly.

The final season had received a mixed response from fans, but the emotional finale, which aired last night (Sunday, 3 April), has been very well received by the majority.

After tying ups some loose ends, Tommy retires, bidding goodbye to his loved ones, but he then receives a message from his deceased daughter Ruby, providing him with some clarity.

It’s then revealed that tuberculoma diagnosis was actually a ploy orchestrated by fascist Oswald Moseley with the help of Dr Holford.

Despite finding out about the scam, Tommy decides to spare the doctor’s life, and eventually leaves on his white horse, preparing for a new life.

This came after Tommy thwarted his cousin Michael’s plan to kill him.

Michael attempted to murder Tommy, who he blamed for his mother Polly’s death, by planting a bomb in his car.

After a car bursts into flames, it looks like he’s succeeded, but it’s then revealed that Tommy was one step ahead and the car which blew up was actually full of Boston gangsters.

Tommy had moved the time bomb to the other vehicle.

After the two of them come together, Michael tells Tommy that “You killed her”, before Tommy replies, “Polly made her own choices, Michael.”

Tommy then shoots Michael in the eye, taking revenge on his cousin who had betrayed him.
