A man was has died after being hit by a car in Washwood Heath

Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a car which then left the scene without stopping.

It’s believed he was struck at around 2am on Washwood Heath Road near the junction with Bennetts Road today (1 July).

He was confirmed dead by paramedics at the scene just before 3am.

West Midlands Police say they are examining CCTV and carrying out other enquiries to identify the car and the driver.

Sgt Stuart Edge said: “I’d urged the driver of the vehicle which hit this pedestrian to do the right thing and come forward, before we come to arrest them.

“We’re working hard to understand exactly what happened, and would urge anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
