A wanted man was caught by police after he flagged down officers to ask for help with his broken down car.

The dopey crook left cops stunned when he asked for assistance because his VW Golf had ran out of petrol as he travelled through Birmingham.

The suspect was promptly arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill while it also transpired his car was untaxed.

West Midlands Police seized the man’s vehicle before sharing details of the unusual arrest on Twitter.
