All tram services in the West Midlands were suspended in November after cracks were discovered for a second time, with a section of the route restarting between Wolverhampton and Bull Street before Christmas.

What’s been said following the announcement?
Mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street said: “I would like to thank the public for their patience during what has been a very frustrating period of disruption to Metro services in Birmingham city centre.
“The announcement today from our operator means we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and can look forward to seeing trams running along Corporation Street to Grand Central and Library by the end of the month.
“Clearly this is based on the repair programme continuing as expected over the next two weeks, and I know the team will be working exceptionally hard to ensure this happens.”
