A 65-year-old man is in critical condition after a road traffic collision in an inner city area of Birmingham. The incident took place in Small Heath on Wednesday night (August 9).

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into the collision between a car and a pedestrian. They were called to Somerville Road at the junction of Mansel Road at around 9.15pm and found a man with serious injuries. The 65-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The 18-year-old driver of the Toyota Aygo remained at the scene and is assisting with the investigation. Officers from West Midlands Police’ Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing to anyone with any information to get in touch.

DS Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The collision happened in a busy area of Bordesley Green. If you witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to us, we would ask you to get in touch. In particular I am keen to hear from anyone who has any dash-cam footage and was in the area at the time.”
