Bus route changes and road closures as Birmingham Pride celebrates 25th anniversary

Birmingham is gearing up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Pride festival and travellers are being asked to plan ahead to avoid delays.Birmingham Pride 2022 will take place on September 24 and 25, with the big parade being held on Saturday, September 24.

The pride march is one of the most important parts of the festival that attracts revellers from across the country to celebrate diversity and inclusivity.

This year will be the 25th anniversary of the event in Birmingham and thousands of people are expected to join in.

There will be some road closures in place between 11am and 2pm on the Saturday as the march gets under way at Centenary Square in the heart of the city centre from11am.

The parade will make its way through the city from 12 noon, heading towards the LGBTQ+ village, from where people can head to the main festival sites, including Smithfield.

What are the changes to the National Express West Midlands timetables for 24 September?

1. 2, 3, 4/4A, 5 & 6

Services will terminate at Moat Lane, by the Bull Ring Markets for unloading only. Customers will need to use stop DS1 (Digbeth/Allison Street) to board the bus heading out of the city centre. Stops on Carrs Lane and Park Street will not be served.

2. 9, 12/12A, 13/13A, X8 & X10

Services will divert to and from Birmingham via Oozells Way, Sheepcote Street, Cambridge Street and Paradise Circus before stopping at the normal stop on Colmore Row.

3. 16

This service will terminate at stop BS11 on Priory Queensway.

4. 17, 60, 97 & X1/X2

Services will terminate at stop DS3 (Digbeth High Street). Stops on Albert Street and Moor Street will not be served.

5. 23/24

Services will terminate at stop SH1 on Colmore Row. Stops on Smallbrook Queensway, Moor Street and Corporation Street (Square Peg) will not be served.

6. 33, 51, 907, 934/935/937/937A, 997, X3/X4/X5, X14 & X51

Services will not serve Moor Street Queensway. Customers should use stops on Priory Queensway or Corporation Street.

7. 35

Service will terminate at Upper Dean Street, by the Bull Ring Markets. Customers should use stops MK2 on Upper Dean Street or DS1 Digbeth/Allison Street. Stops on Moor Street will not be served.

8. 45/47

Services will terminate at Upper Dean Street by the Bull Ring Markets. Customers will need to use stop MK2 on Upper Dean Street. Stops on High Street, St Martins Queensway, Station Street and Pershore Street will not be served. Nearest stops will be Upper Dean Street and Smallbrook Queensway.

9. 50

Service will terminate at Moat Lane by Bull Ring Markets for unloading only. Customers will need to use stop DS1 at Digbeth/Allison Street to board the bus heading out of the city centre. The stop on Moor Street Queensway will not be served.

10. 61/63 & X21/X22

Services will divert via Queensway tunnels both to and from City Centre. Smallbrook Queensway and Moor Street will not be served. Customers at Moor Street Queensway should use stop BS10 in Priory Queensway.

11. 80

Services will terminate at stop HH2 on Holloway Head for unloading only. Customers will need to use stop HH1 at Holloway Head to board buses heading from the city centre. Stops on Station Street, Upper Dean Street and Smallbrook Queensway will not be served.

12. 82/87

Services will terminate in Colmore Row. Stops on Station Street, Upper Dean Street and Smallbrook Queensway will not be served.

2. Kent Street

3. Bromsgrove Street

4. Skinner Lane

5. Claybrook Street

6. Pershore Street

These roads will have restricted access:

1. Inge Street

2. Essex Street

3. Bromsgrove Street leading to Bristol Street

4. Henstead Street

5. Kent Street leading to Wrentham Street

6. Gooch Street

7. Lower Essex Street
