The building is 102 New Street where Superdrug and Bella Italia are located on New Street. It’s The Charters building - a nine storey office building comprising eight floors of office accommodation above ground floor retail units.

West Midlands Fire Service said: “Shortly after 8.00pm on Saturday 15 July, we attended an incident on New Street, Birmingham City Centre, close to the Bella Italia restaurant. A 4x4 brigade support vehicle from Ladywood and a hydraulic aerial platform from Highgate fire station attended.

A large pane of glass on the fifth floor of a nine-storey commercial building had broken and became unstable. A 30 metre corden was established for public safety. Crews used a number of small tools to remove the unstable glass. The incident was left with the building’s maintenance team and we left the scene shortly before 10.45pm.”
