Commonwealth Games bosses speak out about Brummie Bull’s future after he leaves Centenary Square

He’s been winning admirers across Birmingham since becoming the unexpected star of the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony.

The Brummie Bull, known as the Raging Bull in the show, has been perched in a corner of Centenary Square with thousands stopping by to wonder at his height and might every day.

He’s even got his own ‘unofficial’ Twitter account and has posted several messages about his sadness at having to leave his new home. But Centenary Square was never going to be the Brummie Bull’s forever home.

The mechanical bull is owned by Birmingham Ceremonies, which was appointed by the organising committee of the Commonwealth Games. They have confirmed that he is due to leave on Friday, September 23. But have also offered a glimmer of hope that we may see him again.

A spokesperson of committee of Birmingham 2022 told BirminghamWorld: “As planned, the bull is leaving Centenary Square this week. There will be an announcement soon about the future of the bull.”
