Two Birmingham venues given zero star food hygiene ratings as 32 new grades issued

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 28 of Birmingham’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Two of the city’s venues have been handed a 0 star rating, with a 1 and 2 star rating also being awarded to two other establishments.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from 5 to 0 which is displayed at premises and online so customers can make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food. A 5-star rating means hygiene standards are very good, while 0 means urgent improvement is required.

Venues are marked on a number of factors, including the handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities and how food safety is managed.

23 five star ratings were also handed out to eateries across the city. Here are the latest ratings in full:

Two restaurants given 0 star ratings

Breakfast N Brunch cafe at 101 Thornbridge Avenue in Perry Barr was handed a 0 star on August 16.

The Pisces Fish Bar at 2146a Coventry Road in Sheldon, was given a 0 rating on August 15.
