We won! BirminghamWorld scoops top award at NationalWorld conference

The team at BirminghamWorld are delighted to announce that we have won a top award at the NationalWorld conference in Blackpool.

The website scooped the Large/ City Digital Brand of the Year prize at National World’s Annual Awards at a glitzy ceremony held in Blackpool on Thursday, November 30. We were one of 23 winners from across the country, which included other websites, newspapers, individual journalists and commercial and support staff.

BirminghamWorld was launched just over two years ago and it has grown to become a key trusted source for news, entertainment and sport across the UK’s biggest city outside London. Our small team features me - Fionnuala Bourke, the editor - reporters Joe Forte and Asmita Sarkar, our football journalist Charlie Haffenden and video journalist, Richard Gullick. We also employ specialist writers to report on key topics in Birmingham.

We are pleased to bring our readers and viewers fresh content - in written and video format and pictures on a daily basis - with our commitment to champion Birmingham and its people. There have been so many important stories and events that we have covered since September 2021, but here are just a few of the major issues we have raised and achievements we have celebrated:

Asmita almost got knocked over as she reported on the dangers of Birmingham’s most dangerous road. Joe has shone a light on the achievements of Birmingham schools which have ranked top in national surveys and Ofsted inspections. He also reports from the heart of communities across Birmingham, recently visiting business and community leaders in Dale End in Birmingham city centre and Moseley.

And we all bring you the latest news on the openings and closings and the huge array of awards that Birmingham’s thriving food and drink scene brings.
