Birmingham weather: What is the Met Office weather forecast this week, how cold will it get and might it snow?

Spring is here, so here’s a look at the weather forecast for Birmingham this week.

The gradual rise in temperature is something that we’ve all welcomed with open arms.

With the lighter nights, the gloomy days of winter feel like a distant memory.

With this in mind, here’s what the weather looks like in Birmingham for the week ahead, including the weekend.

Is there a weather warning in place for Birmingham?

The Met Office has so far issued three weather warnings this week, two yellow warnings for wind and one yellow warning for snow.

However, Birmingham has been spared, as the warnings are in place for north west England and northern Scotland.

The warning for Scotland, which was for snow, was cancelled on Wednesday afternoon.

What is the weather going to be like in Birmingham?

6 April

The wet and blustery conditions of the afternoon should ease heading into the evening, making for a quieter night.

7 April

A sunny morning is in store for the city, but with a ‘feels like’ temperature of just 5°C it will have a cool feel to it.

The clouds will return in the afternoon and some showers will follow behind.

Fortunately, the showers shouldn’t last too long, and there should be some spells of sunshine before the end of the day.

8 April

The sunshine of Thursday doesn’t look likely to return on Friday, with long spells of cloud and gloomy conditions in store.

The rain should stay away, and the high temperature should be in the region of 9°C, although a breeze could make it feel more like 5/6°C.

Overnight could see temperatures as low as 4°C.

9 April

The start of the weekend looks set to be sunny, although pretty cold to start off with.

A ‘feels like’ temperature of just -2°C may make you think twice about any outside morning activities.

The sun will be replaced by clouds during the afternoon, but it should be a dry Saturday at least.

The temperature could reach as low as 2°C during Saturday night.

10 April

Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with a small chance of rain around lunchtime, although the temperature could reach double figures.

The evening shouldn’t see the temperature drop too drastically, and the week could end with a relatively mild night as a result.

Will it snow in Birmingham this week?

As exciting as the prospect of snow would be, the milder temperatures and sunnier skies means that the chance of any wintery weather in Birmingham is highly unlikely.

What has the Met Office said about the forecast in Birmingham?

The Met Office has published their outlook until 10 April in Birmingham.

Here’s what they think is in store for the region.

Tonight:

It will remain windy through the evening with a continued risk of showers. Overnight the winds will ease somewhat with clear spells becoming more widespread. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Thursday:

A windy morning with gales in exposure over high ground and some spells of rain. Winds easing for the afternoon with sunny spells and some scattered showers. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Staying on the cold side for Friday and Saturday with sunny spells, showers, and a risk of overnight frost. Turning milder with clouds and some rain on Sunday.
