Burst water main on A45: road closures in place on Coventry Road

A burst water main on A45 Coventry Road towards Birmingham has caused congestion today (August 31). Road closures are in place and commuters have been told to allow more time for their journey. A lane has reopened past the scene, as works continue to fix the water main.

Delays of 45-minutes have been reported on the diversion route. There are queues when approaching closure from Damson Parkway. Commuters have been asked to avoid the area or allow plenty of extra time.

Traffic is using Valley Road and Old Lode Lane as A45 Coventry Road (towards city) between Wells Road and Hob Moats Road in Sheldon this morning. West Midlands Roads said there is congestion on approach and the bus service X1 is being diverted via Glencroft Road, Valley Road, Old Lode Lane and Hobs Moat Road. Delays are expected to services 60, 72, 73, X1 and X2 in the area.
