How fundraising helps Birmingham

Last year’s event in the city raised £72,682 which is vital when considering Cancer Research UK spent nearly £10m in Birmingham in 2020/21.

Right now, the charity is busily working to find new ways to target cancer, researching how it develops and investigating how bacteria could be used in cancer treatments.

The charity’s spokesman added: “Over the last 40 years, Cancer Research UK’s work has helped double breast cancer survival. We were a key player in the development of radiotherapy and we played a key role in developing eight of the world’s top ten cancer drugs.

“Although we are proud of achievements, there is still more to be done. The money you raise will help to bring us closer to our ambition of three in four people surviving their cancer for ten years or more by 2034.”

Be a beacon in the dark

Volunteers are needed at the event in a general capacity and as course volunteers and cycle team volunteers. Pit stop positions and driving positions also require filling.
