Moseley residents urged to help Ukrainian civilians and soldiers at event

Brummies keen to play their part in helping Ukrainians suffering from Russia’s attack on their nation are being urged to donate to and volunteer at an event in Moseley this weekend.

Hide AdMoseley Hive, located at 93 Alcester Road, is staging a ‘Moseley for Ukraine’ humanitarian aid collection which will welcome donations of vital goods to be sent to Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.
The list of items has been set by Fundacja sw. Jadwigi (The St Jadwiga Foundation) in Wroclaw, Poland, and all goods will be transported directly to those in need.
A spokesperson said: “We would kindly request that no other items – including clothes – are brought to The Hive other than what is on the lists because we will not be able to use or dispose of them.

Hide Ad“If you are able to volunteer to help with the collection, sorting and packing of items, please contact us.
“Thank you to everyone who has shared and contacted us already.”
What should the Birmingham public donate?
Items which would be gratefully received include first aid kits,bandages, plasters, saline solutions, wound disinfectants, dressings, paracetamol, burn gels, iodine and syringes.

Hide AdNew or like-new sleeping bags, blankets and camping mats are desperately needed, as are new baby bottles and other items including baby and adult nappies, Calpol, torches, lighters, flasks, wet wipes, can openers, sanitary towels, masking nets, candles and camping stoves (without gas).
New gloves, hats, scarves, socks and thermal underwear for children and adults of all ages are required, as are toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap.
Organisers are also appealing for donations of food including ready-made camping meal pouches and items that can be warmed on a stove, tinned foods such as soup and spaghetti bolognese, Pot Noodles and baby food in jars and pouches.

Hide AdAlso hugely valuable are coffee, tea, sugar, salt, hot chocolate, long life milk, energy bars and high-protein snacks and gels.
