Popular high-end Store surprises shoppers with unexpected closures in Bullring, Grand Central, and Solihull
Birmingham’s bustling Bullring and Grand Central shopping centres are set to lose another popular store.
This closure is part of a broader shutdown of all 31 remaining UK stores, including the Solihull Touchwood location, marking the end of an era for the brand that has graced our high streets for 36 years.

Hide AdTed Baker, the iconic British fashion brand known for its quirky yet sophisticated style, is closing its doors in these prime locations.
Founded in 1988 in Glasgow, Ted Baker expanded from a men’s shirt specialist to a comprehensive fashion house, offering a wide range of clothing and accessories for both men and women. The brand, which has been a staple in the Bullring, Grand Central, Selfridges and Solihull, offered a unique blend of contemporary and classic styles. From sharp suits to elegant dresses, Ted Baker’s collections have always been a go-to for those seeking to make a statement.

Why the Closure?
The closure is part of a larger strategy by Ted Baker’s parent company, No Ordinary Designer Label (NODL), which went into administration earlier this year. Before the insolvency, Ted Baker operated 46 UK stores and employed around 975 people.
Despite efforts to keep the brand afloat, including the closure of 15 stores in April, the decision was made to shut down all remaining UK stores by the end of this week.

Hide AdThis move affects over 500 employees and marks the end of Ted Baker’s physical presence in the UK. Employees were informed last month that they would lose their jobs once the stores close.
Authentic Brands, the US-based company that owns Juicy Couture and Reebok, still retains ownership of Ted Baker’s intellectual property. The company had been seeking a new partner to manage Ted Baker’s retail and online operations in the UK and Europe.
What’s Next?
While the physical stores are closing, Ted Baker’s legacy will continue through its online presence and partnerships with department stores like John Lewis. Shoppers can still find their favourite Ted Baker pieces, albeit in a different format. The brand’s commitment to quality and distinctive style remains unchanged, even as it navigates these challenging times.
Will There Be a Closing Down Sale?
Although nothing has yet been announced, Ted Baker is expected to have a closing-down sale as part of the process of closing its remaining UK outlets. Retailers often hold clearance sales to sell off the remaining items before closing their doors, particularly when closing a large number of stores.
