Pershore Road collision: Man dies in Stirchley - road closed & bus diversions in place

A man has died following a collision on the Pershore Road in Stirchley, Birmingham, in the early hours of this morning (Monday, October 16).
Police said that a Seat Ibiza was involved in a collision with two other vehicles. It happened a number of minutes after the car had failed to stop for officers at around 12.35am on Belgrave Middleway. The vehicle was not being pursued at the time of the collision.

Hide AdA man in his 40s was declared dead at the scene. A woman who was in the Seat was also taken to hospital. A man who was in one of the other vehicles was taken to hospital as a precaution. A stab vest and a quantity of drugs was found in the Seat.
Pershore Road at the junction of Dog Pool Lane and Hobson Road is closed while enquiries continue - buses have also been diverted. Police have urged people not to share footage on social media.
The fatal collision comes hours after a man was killed in a separate crash on the Tyburn Road in Erdington. The man, aged in his 20s, died at the scene when a car collided with a tree at 1.33pm yesterday (Sunday, October 15). A passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We’d ask people not to share any footage on social media, out of respect for the families involved and not to compromise future investigations.

Hide Ad“Our Professional Standards Department has been informed and has contacted the Independent Office for Police Conduct, due to the vehicle failing to stop for officers.”
National Express West Midlands said: “Pershore Road Stirchley closed due to a police incident. 45 and 47 diverted in both directions via Pebble Mill Road, Bristol Road, Bournbrook Road, Raddlebarn Road and Warwards Lane. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
